Valentino – Fragrance Reveal Animation
Luxury perfume product animation inspired by Valentino fragrances.
This project showcases a cinematic product reveal featuring a dynamic cloth explosion effect surrounding the bottle, designed to emphasize elegance, motion, and premium branding.
The entire production was created from scratch, including 3D modeling, texturing, lighting, animation, and final compositing. The workflow combines Houdini for procedural cloth and simulations, Blender for modeling, shading, lighting, and rendering, and After Effects for post-production, visual effects, color grading, and final edit.
Fragrance is the one product category where the object has to carry a mood, not a function. There is nothing to demonstrate and nothing to explain — the film either establishes a world or it fails. The technical difficulty matched the creative one: the bottle is a studded glass block, meaning hundreds of faceted metal points sitting on a transparent body, all against a dark set. Get the lighting wrong and the studs vanish or the glass reads as plastic.
The bottle was modelled in Blender with the stud pattern built as instanced geometry so the facets stay uniform and light consistently across the whole surface, and shaded with layered glass over a dark tinted interior so the body holds depth instead of going flat. Lighting is low-key: a cold key raking across the studs to make each one catch a specular point, a violet rim to separate the silhouette from the background, and a soft glow beneath the rock plinth. The reveal is built from a shattering fragment simulation — the bottle assembles out of debris rather than fading in — which gives the piece a moment without needing a camera move. Rock environment, particle debris, atmosphere and grade finished in After Effects.
A 9-second cinematic loop that works as a launch teaser or a social hero — the format fragrance brands actually buy. It also proves the two hardest things in product rendering: convincing glass, and hundreds of small metal facets that all behave correctly under one light. Self-initiated study.
